  • JAY KIM, CFA Partner Singapore Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Jae Wook Kim (“Jay Kim”), CFA, is Partner of Orchestra Private Equity and manages the team as Partner.
    • 29 years of professional experience. 15 years of experience in East Asia buyout funds and 14 years of experience in global management consulting firms. He has founded Orchestra Private Equity in 2014.
    • Jay was one of the initial members of Riverside Asia Fund, established in 2007.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Jay was Partner of Riverside Asia Fund I (“RAF I”) of The Riverside Company. He was also Partner of Asia Growth Fund of PineBridge Investments (previously AIG Investments).
    • Jay was a management consultant at Bain & Company in Seoul, Tokyo, and Toronto offices. Jay was also a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (“BCG”) in Seoul, Tokyo, and Boston offices. He was also was Regional Director of Manpower Group’s consulting unit covering China, Korea, and Singapore.
    • MBA at Haas School of Business at University of California at Berkeley, and BA degrees in Economics and Asian Studies at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
    • CFA charter holder. A US citizen and is fluent in English, Korean, and Japanese. Jay’s family resides in Tokyo.

  • HIRO WAKASHITA Partner Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Hiroaki Wakashita (“Hiro Wakashita”) is Partner of Orchestra Private Equity.
    • Hiro was one of the initial members of Riverside Asia Fund, established in 2007.
    • He co-manages Japan Team with Kiyo Nakano. Hiro’s key role is in transaction and portfolio company operation.

    Experiences

    • 19 years of working experience. 15 years in private equity where he was involved in buyout deals at The Riverside Company and Oak Capital. Also 4 years as a management consultant at Accenture.
    • Prior to joining Orchestra Private Equity, Hiro was the first hire for The Riverside Company’s Asia operations, starting off in San Francisco Office in 2006 to help transition the culture and processes to Asia.
    • While with Accenture’s Strategy & Business Architecture Unit, he focused on the telecommunications & high-tech sector, conducted projects including CRM strategy and new business strategies for mobile carriers.
    • Received his Bachelor’s degree from Keio University in Japan and is fluent in Japanese and English.

  • CLARENCE KU, CPA CFO Singapore Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Clarence Ku, CPA, is the firm’s CFO and is Principal at Singapore Office. He manages LP reporting, administration, compliance, finance, and accounting.
    • Clarence has total of 25 years of finance and accounting experiences. In his more recent 12 years, his roles have expanded to investment and corporate finance, engaging in funds investment, management, operation and reporting, fundraising, and private equity & venture capital.

    Experiences

    • Prior to joining Orchestra, Clarence was CFO & CIO at Adval Capital focusing on venture capital investment and business acceleration for tech start-ups. He was CFO with Singapore Flyer where he was instrumental in accelerating the financial performance of the company and the subsequent sale.
    • Received CPA equivalent from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) UK. He is a Singapore citizen and fluent in English, Chinese, and Cantonese.

  • JACK OH Principal Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Jack Oh is with Tokyo Office and leads the firm’s portfolio company operations. He is a Board member of Orchestra’s portfolio companies.
    • Jack is currently involved in the operation of Phoenixdarts and Vision Holdings as Interim-CEO. He also oversees investment in add-on acquisitions and divestment of subsidiaries.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Jack was with PAG Investment Management Tokyo Office, a regional real estate fund. He was also with BMW Financial Services Japan.
    • Jack received a BA degree in International Liberal Arts at Waseda University, Japan. He is fluent in English, Korean, and Japanese.

  • KEIJI MIYAKI Advisory Principal Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Keiji Miyaki is Advisory Principal of Orchestra Private Equity (part-time engagement).
    • He represents the fund’s interest through Board participation and management team strategy sessions for portfolio companies in Japan.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Mr. Keiji had 25 years experience in management consulting and 9 years in corporate.
    • He was with Kearney as Head Partner of Tokyo Office and Seoul Office for 12 years. He was also with Manpower Group and JMAC for 13 years. Keiji also had Japanese corporate experience with Yamaha as General Manager for 9 years.
    • Mr. Miyaki received a BA degree in Business Administration at Hitotsubashi University. He is fluent in Japanese and English.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • While at Orchestra, David has participated in transaction of Phoenixdarts, Vision Holdings, and Banolim Pizza as well as their subsequent add-on acquisitions and subsidiary dispositions. He is also supporting operation of Vision Holdings and Banolim Pizza.

    • Prior to Orchestra, David was with PwC in Finance Advisory Services Unit and Audit Unit. Highlights of M&A projects while at PwC include LCD material manufacturer, electronic components manufacturer, automobile components manufacturer, and cosmetics OEM.
    • David received a BA degree in Economics at Sogang University. He attained CPA in Korea and is fluent in Korean and English.

  • SUNNY YOON Manager Seoul Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Sunny Yoon is based in Seoul Office and oversees marketing & IR. He is involved in investor relations and external communication for portfolio companies.
    • While at Orchestra, Sunny supported the successful rebranding of Vision Holdings and Phoenixdarts to the local markets and implemented key initiatives to raise customer awareness and brand recognition.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Sunny was with German Chamber of Commerce’s PR team. He was also with AB InBev’s PR team where he led the local execution of the company’s global PR and ad campaigns.
    • Sunny has lived in Germany for 20 years and is fluent in Korean, English, and German. Received BA in Communications at Seoul National University.

  • KAN NAGAHATA, CPA Associate Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Kan Nagahata, CPA, is with the Tokyo Office.
    • While at Orchestra, Kan focuses on transactions and operations (supporting operations at MAJESTY Golf Japan) as part of Japan team.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Kan was with EY as a member of both Transaction Advisory Services and Advisory & Consulting Team in Tokyo, He conducted buy-side valuations for multinational corporations in sectors including financial services, manufacturing, and energy.
    • Kan graduated from The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance. He attained his CPA in US. He has resided in 6 countries and is fluent in English and Japanese.

  • HYUNSEO LIMB, CPA Associate Seoul Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Hyunseo Limb, CPA, is with the Seoul Office and supports the firm’s operations at Majesty Golf Korea.
    • While at Orchestra, Hyunseo has participated in transaction of Banolim Pizza and supports the daily operation of the company.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Hyunseo was with PwC as a member of both Transaction Advisory Services and Global Audit Team in Seoul, Korea. Hyunseo participated in over 20 cross border financial due diligence and valuation services for multinational corporations in sectors including financial services, manufacturing, consumer products, technology, and marketing.
    • He obtained his CPA in Maine and is a US citizen. He is native in English and Korean. Hyunseo graduated with a BA degrees in Economics at the University of Washington, Seattle.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Hyojin Lim manages back-office function of the Seoul Office. She also manages marketing and LP communication.
    • While at Orchestra, Hyojin manages fund administration adhering to statutory and regulatory requirements.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Hyojin was with Korea Energy Agency and has participated in the government unit’s policy planning and implementation in renewable energy and climate change related initiatives. Hyojin was also with administrative team for Doosan Heavy Industries America in US.
    • Hyojin received a BA degree in International Relations at University of Seoul. She is fluent in Korean and English.

  • KYOKO ISHIHARA Administrative Manager Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Kyoko Ishihara manages back-office function of the Tokyo Office. She is also responsible for the firm’s marketing and communication in Japan.
    • While at Orchestra, Kyoko manages the organization’s Tokyo Office back-office functions including HR and staffing, financial reporting, and tax accounting.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Kyoko was with Assurant, an US insurance company. She supervised administrative functions of offices in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. On behalf of US headquarters, she established and localized compliance management and financial processes.
    • A native of Japan, Kyoko lived in Korea for 6 years and is natively fluent in both Korean and Japanese. She received BA in Business Administration at Kyunghee University.
