  • JAY KIM, CFA Partner Singapore Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Jay Kim (“Jae Wook Kim” or “Jay Kanehara”), CFA, is Partner of Orchestra Private Equity. Jay is based in Singapore and manages group operation from Orchestra’s Singapore headquarters.
    • Jay was one of the initial members of Riverside Asia Fund, established in 2007.

    Experiences

    • 30 years of professional experience. 16 years of experience in East Asia buyout funds and 14 years of experience in global management consulting firms. He has founded Orchestra Private Equity in 2014.
    • Prior to Orchestra, Jay was Partner of Riverside Asia Fund I (“RAF I”) of The Riverside Company. He was also Partner of Asia Growth Fund of PineBridge Investments.
    • Jay was a management consultant at Bain & Company in Seoul, Tokyo, and Toronto offices. Jay was also a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (“BCG”) in Seoul, Tokyo, and Boston offices. He was also was Regional Director of Manpower Group’s consulting unit covering China, Korea, and Singapore.
    • MBA at Haas School of Business at University of California at Berkeley, and BA degrees in Economics and Asian Studies at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
    • CFA charter holder. A US citizen and is fluent in English, Korean, and Japanese.

  • HIRO WAKASHITA Partner Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Hiroaki Wakashita (“Hiro Wakashita”) is a Partner of Orchestra Private Equity. Hiro is based in Tokyo and is Orchestra’s Head of Japan.
    • Hiro was one of the initial members of Riverside Asia Fund, established in 2007.

    Experiences

    • 23 years of working experience. 19 years in private equity where he was involved in buyout deals at The Riverside Company and Oak Capital. Also 4 years as a management consultant at Accenture.
    • Prior to joining Orchestra Private Equity, Hiro was the first hire for The Riverside Company’s Asia operations, starting off in San Francisco Office in 2006 to help transition the culture and processes to Asia.
    • While with Accenture’s Strategy & Business Architecture Unit, he focused on the telecommunications & high-tech sector, conducted projects including CRM strategy and new business strategies for mobile carriers.
    • Received his Bachelor’s degree from Keio University in Japan and is fluent in English and Japanese.

  • MOTOYA KITAMURA Advisor Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Motoya Kitamura is Advisory of Orchestra Private Equity. Based in Tokyo, he covers investor relations and fundraising (part-time engagement).
    • Motoya was a Limited Partner of Riverside Asia Fund. He also co-invested in 4 Riverside portfolios while as LP of RAF I.

    Experiences

    • 29 years of working experience. 24 years in private equity as LP. Specifically, as a fund-of-funds investor, co-investor, secondaries investor, market researcher, and entrepreneur.
    • He was engaged in private equity secondaries investments at HQ Capital, AB Value Capital, and Macquarie Group/ROC Partners. At HQ Capital and Macquarie Group/ROC Partners, he was also engaged in Asian fund-of-funds and co-investment programs. At AI Capital, he covered US, Europe, and Asia for its fund-of-funds programs.
    • MA in Johns Hopkins University School and BA from Osaka University. He is fluent in English and Japanese.
    MOTOYA KITAMURA
  • SANGWOO YOON, Lawyer, CFA Principal Seoul Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra’s Sangwoo Yoon, Lawyer, CFA, is Orchestra’s Head of Korea. He is based in Seoul and supports mainly the firm’s Korea origination and portfolio company operation.
    • Sangwoo acts as General Counsel of Orchestra Private Equity. Together with Orchestra partners and CFO, he also manages compliance and ESG.

    Experiences

    • Sangwoo has 11 years lawyer experience and 2 years start-up CEO experience. He was with Kim & Chang as attorney at law with the firm’s M&A Group and Investment Management Group, where he advised over 1,000 legal projects. He also served as CEO of “100Percent”, a start-up and a market leader in mobile handset battery charge platform space.
    • Sangwoo received BA degree in Law at Seoul National University. He also attended LLM at Georgetown Law School. He is a member of Korean Bar Association.
    • CFA and FRM charter holder. He is fluent in English and Korean.
    SANGWOO YOON
  • CLARENCE KU, CPA CFO Singapore Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Clarence Ku, CPA, is the firm’s CFO and is employed with Orchestra’s Singapore Office. He manages fund formation, LP reporting & IR, and GP general administration.
    • Together with Orchestra partners and General Counsel, he also manages compliance and ESG.

    Experiences

    • Clarence has total of 26 years of finance and accounting experiences. In his more recent 13 years, his roles have expanded to investment and corporate finance, and private equity & venture capital.
    • Prior to joining Orchestra, Clarence was CFO & CIO at Adval Capital focusing on venture capital investment. He was CFO with Singapore Flyer where he was instrumental in accelerating the financial performance of the company and the subsequent sale.
    • Received CPA equivalent from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) UK. He is a Singapore citizen and fluent in English and Chinese.
    Clarence Ku
  • AHRUM AHN Principal Seoul Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Ahrum Ahn manages middle and back-office function of Seoul Office, including fund management and investor relations. She also manages LP communication.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Ahrum was with Excelsior Capital, a Hong Kong based private equity firm, and covered investor relations and middle-back office in Seoul. While in Excelsior, she led fundraising and fund management in Korea.
    • Ahrum was also with Korea Investment Corporation (“KIC”) in private equity team, where she was involved in both primary investments and co-investments.
    • Ahrum received a BA degree in Business Administration and English Literature at Ewha University. She is fluent in English and Korean as she had resided mostly in Singapore.

  • KAN NAGAHATA, CPA Manager Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Kan Nagahata, CPA, is with the Tokyo Office.
    • While at Orchestra, Kan focuses on origination, transactions, and operations as part of Japan team. He is a member of transacting team that executes company analysis and investment valuation.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Kan was with EY as a member of both Transaction Advisory Services and Advisory & Consulting Team in Tokyo, He conducted buy-side valuations for multinational corporations in sectors including financial services, manufacturing, and energy.
    • Kan graduated from The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He attained his CPA in US. He has resided in 6 countries and is fluent in English and Japanese.

  • JAESUK CHANG Manager Seoul Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Jaesuk Chang, is with Seoul Office. He supports the firm’s transactions and operation and is a member of transacting team that executes company analysis and investment valuation.

    Experiences

    • Jaesuk had 5 years experience as a consultant focused on commercial due diligence and post-acquisition projects.
    • Jaesuk was with Bain & Company and L.E.K. Consulting as a Senior Associate in Seoul and London offices. He participated M&A-related projects for financial and strategic investors in sectors including franchising, cosmetics, e-commerce, specialty chemicals, and renewable energy.
    • Jaesuk received a BA degrees in Economics at Emory University. He is fluent in English and Korean.
    JAESUK CHANG
  • KYOKO ISHIHARA Manager Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Kyoko Ishihara manages back-office function of Tokyo Office. She is also responsible for the firm’s marketing and communication in Japan.
    • While at Orchestra, Kyoko manages the organization’s Tokyo Office back-office functions including office administration.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Kyoko was with Assurant, an US insurance company. She supervised administrative functions of offices in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
    • A native of Japan, Kyoko lived in Korea for 6 years and is fluent in English, Japanese, and Korean. She received BA in Business Administration at Kyunghee University.

  • DOOLY SIM Associate Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Dooly Sim is with the Tokyo Office. At Orchestra, Dooly focuses on origination, transactions, and operations as part of Japan team.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Dooly was with EY-Parthenon Japan and L.E.K Consulting Japan. He conducted growth strategy, commercial due-diligence, technology due diligence, and led the analytics & data science practices.
    • He also worked at Rohm Semiconductors (Kyoto) and was a core member of the initial launch team for HelloFresh’s Japan operations.
    • Dooly graduated from Schulich School of Business in Toronto in Business Administrations (iBBA) degree. Dooly is fluent in English, Japanese, and Korean.

  • SEOKJE SONG, CPA Analyst Seoul Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Orchestra Private Equity’s Seokje Song, CPA, is with Seoul Office. He supports the firm’s transactions and operation and is a member of transacting team that executes company analysis and investment valuation.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Seokje was with KPMG in Financial Advisory Service Unit. He participated in sell-side and buy-side M&A advisory and valuation projects in sectors including food & beverage, infrastructure, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, and entertainment.
    • He received a BA degree in Business Administration at Seoul National University. He attained CPA in Korea and is fluent in English and Korean.

  • KEIJI MIYAKI Operating Partner Tokyo Office

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Keiji Miyaki is Operating Partner of Orchestra Private Equity (part-time engagement).
    • He participants through Boards and management team strategy sessions for Orchestra’s portfolio companies.

    Experiences

    • Prior to Orchestra, Keiji had 25 years experience in management consulting and 9 years in corporate.
    • He was with Kearney as Head Partner of Tokyo Office and Seoul Office for 12 years. Keiji was also with Manpower Group and JMAC for 13 years. He also had Japanese corporate experience with Yamaha as Manager for 9 years.
    • Keiji received a BA degree in Business Administration at Hitotsubashi University. He is fluent in English and Japanese.
